Chennai: Rain brings respite from sweltering heat

CHENNAI: A 15-minute-long rain offered respite from the heat for the city residents on Thursday. While places such as Thoraipakkam, Meenambakkam in south Chennai experienced traces of rainfall in the morning, Chindadripet, Royapettah, Egmore, Kilpauk and Anna Nagar experienced rainfall briefly around 9.30 p.m.

Places such Triplicane, Mylapore and Chrompet also received rainfall. Some parts of the city are likely to receive showers or thundershower in evening or night on Saturday, Meteorological department officials said.
