Chennai: Rain likely for two more days in city

CHENNAI: Two more days of rain — that’s what the met department has predicted as the north-east monsoon continues to lash the city. By Sunday evening, the Nungambakkam observatory recorded 604 mm of rainfall for the period October 1 to November 15. Ginjee, near Villupuram, received 18 cm of rainfall, the highest in 24 hours this monsoon.

The trough of low pressure over Comorin and the Gulf of Mannar, which has brought the rains, has not moved much in the last two days, and the state is likely to receive good rainfall over the next two days, said S R Ramanan, director, Regional Meteorological Centre. According to the met department, a gradual dip in rainfall is likely from the middle of the week.
