Plan to ensure supply of drinking water to the villagers: Tuticorin Collector

309 petitions received at mass contact programme at Padukkappathu

Tuticorin: All requirements of the people will be fulfilled, Collector G. Prakash has said here on Wednesday at the mass contact programme held at Padukappathu village.

As many as 309 petitions were received and 160 of them had been solved by officials from the department concerneds.

Adequate measures would be taken in consultation with TWAD Board to ensure supply of drinking water to the villagers.

Moreover the people also sought help for setting up a community services hall at Padukappathu.

The project would be taken up under Namakku Naame Thittam with public and private partnership.

To meet needs of transportation and banking operations at the village, steps would be taken, Mr. Prakash added.

Meanwhile, the Collector handed over three power tillers to farmers through the Department of Agriculture with a subsidy of Rs. 45, 000 each.

Besides, 102 beneficiaries received financial assistance under various welfare schemes.

Later Mr. Prakash made a surprise visit to the primary health centre at Padukappathu and reviewed the progress of work and facilities available.

The Medical Officer said that about 12 to 15 deliveries were being attended to every month.

Packiam Devakirubai, RDO, Tiruchendur, Selvaraj, Backward Classes Officer, K. Paramasivan, Project Officer, Mahalir Thittam, S. Uma, Deputy Director Health Services and N. David Dhanasingh, PA to Collector (Agriculture) were present.
