Plan to bring underground drainage scheme to Arcot

“5,82,231 TV sets worth Rs.132 crore were so far distributed in Vellore district”
VELLORE: Steps would be taken to implement an underground drainage scheme (UGS) for Arcot Municipality, Durai Murugan, Law Minister said at Arcot on Tuesday.
Minister distributed colour televisions worth Rs.1.43 crore to 6981 persons in the 15 wards in Arcot Municipality. Mr. Durai Murugan was responding to a plea by S. Jagathrakshakan, Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting for the implementation of UGS in Arcot. He said that 5,82,231 colour televisions worth Rs.132 crore were so far distributed in Vellore district, while 43,960 colour television sets worth Rs.10 crore were distributed so far in Arcot Assembly Constituency.
R. Gandhi, Ranipet MLA presided. T.A. Mohammed Saqhy, former MP, Pon Rajasekaran, vice-chairman of Arcot Municipality, A. Karunanidhi, Deputy Collector-in-charge (CTV) and Ramani, Tahsildar, Arcot spoke. J.L. Easwarappan, Municipal Chairman, Arcot welcomed the gathering. R. Rajasekaran, Taluk Supply Officer, Arcot proposed a vote of thanks.
