Rain improves inflow into reservoirs

Coimbatore: The continuing rain in Coimbatore district and along the Western Ghats for the fourth day on Monday resulted in copious inflow into reservoirs besides steadily increasing the storage in many of the reservoirs, including the Parambikulam-Aliyar Project.
While the rain remained heavy in hill areas, there was mild showers in urban areas. According to the Water Resource Organisation (WRO) of the Public Works Department, the rainfall level reported across the district at 8.30 a.m. in mm were as follows:
Chinnakallar- 113, Valparai taluk- 95, Valparai PAP- 93, Chincona- 87, TNAU- 76, Coimbatore South- 73, Pollachi- 7, Periyanaickenpalayam- 5, Peelamedu- 3.4, Mettupalayam- 2.4 and Annur- 1.
The Public Works Department officials said that the inflow and storage in the reservoirs had been on a steady rise.
